Patient Preparation for SPO
Monitoring:
Choose the probe that is best
suited for your patient's
needs: ear, finger, disposable,
reusable, etc.
Clean the surface of the probe
before and after each patient
use.
Following the instructions
provided with the probe,
correctly position and attach
the probe to your patient.
When a Masimo sensor is
repositioned at any time,
disconnect the cable from the
sensor before repositioning.
Reconnect the sensor to the
cable after proper patient
preparation and placement.

It is Important to be Aware

of the Following when
Monitoring SPO
A poor SPO
signal may result

if the probe detector is
exposed to strong ambient
light.
When securing the probe,
ensure nothing is blocking the
probe light detector.
Prolonged monitoring may
require changing the probe
site periodically. Monitor the
probe site. Move the probe if
there is any sign of skin
irritation or impaired
circulation.
Change the probe site at least
EVERY FOUR HOURS to
prevent skin breakdown. With
neonate, you may need to
reduce application periods to
half the recommended time.
