The reply bit OPERATION ENABLED (bit 2 PZD1) will be set to 0 while the drive is STOPPED.
Note that the stop mode as specified in P05 is temporarily overridden by OFF commands. This does not affect the
RUN command, nor does it affect reading/writing to P05 via the USS link.

7.5.1.4 Reading Parameters

To read a parameter, set PKE bits 12 to 15 to '0 0 0 1' (read request). Set PKE bits 0 to 10 with the desired parameter
number (PNU). This will have a range of 0 to 63 for the 6SE21.
The value of the parameter will be returned in the PWE word, if it can be read. If not, the following USS error codes
are supported:
PKE bits 12 to 15 = 1 0 0 0
PKE bits 12 to 15 = 0 1 1 1, PWE = 0

7.5.1.5 Writing Parameters

Parameter values can be written in one of two ways – either affecting temporary (RAM) values only, or affecting
both temporary and permanent (EEPROM) values.
To change a parameter, place the new value in the PWE word and the parameter number in bits 0 to 10 of PKE.
To change the RAM value only, set bits 12 to 15 of PKE to '0 0 1 0'.
To change both the RAM and the EEPROM values, set bits 12 to 15 of PKE to '1 1 1 0'.
On reply, the inverter will place the actual value of the parameter after change into the PWE word. PKE bits 12 to 15
will be set to '0 0 0 1', indicating that the new value has been read from the parameter. This can be used for
verification and will also reveal if the inverter has truncated the value to an upper or lower limit.
It is possible that in certain circumstances the parameter write request will not be actioned. For this reason the
following error codes are supported:
PKE bits 12 to 15 = 1 0 0 0
PKE bits 12 to 15 = 0 1 1 1, PWE = 0
'No Parameter Task'
This code requests that no parameter reads or writes are performed. This reduces the processor loading and
prolongs EEPROM life.
To request 'No Parameter Task', set bits 12 to 15 of PKE to '0 0 0 0'. Bits 0 to 11 of PKE and the value in PWE are
then ignored.
This code should be sent at all times except for specific parameter read/write requests. Such requests only need to
be transmitted once.
Illegal Parameter Task Request
If a parameter task request that is not supported by the 6SE21 is sent in bits 12 to 15 of PKE, the reply message will
contain the error code 'Function not Implemented'.
This is represented by PKE bits 12 to 15 = '0 1 1 1', PWE = 101 decimal.
7/11
– Serial link not enabled.
– Parameter number out of range or is unused.
Serial link not enabled, or parameter cannot be adjusted in
current state of inverter (e.g. while running).
Parameter number out of range or unused.
