Custom Dictionary
BlackBerry Storm keeps all its learned words in a safe place — Custom
Dictionary, to be precise. You can review your Custom Dictionary — and
even add to it — using the Custom Dictionary option.
Using the Custom Dictionary option to add words or proper names to the list
means that SureType doesn't have to learn them when you're typing.
To see or add words by using the Custom Dictionary, follow these steps:
1. From the Home screen, press the menu key and then touch-press the
Options icon (wretch icon).
2. Select Custom Dictionary.
The Custom Dictionary opens, listing all the words that the Storm has
learned. (If you purchased your BlackBerry recently, the list might have
only a few words or even no words.)
3. Press the menu key and then touch-press New.
4. To save your changes, press the menu key and then touch-press Save.
Getting people's names right is tough with SureType, but fortunately,
SureType can automatically learn all the names in Contacts as follows:
1. From the Home screen, press the menu key and then touch-press the
options icon.
2. Touch-press the Language and Text Input option.
The Language option screen appears. This screen is where the handy
Input Option button makes its home.
3. Touch-press the Show Text Input Option button.
The Input Options screen appears, with the following options:

• Auto Word Learning: If this option is on, the Storm learns as you type.
• Use Contacts as Data Source: If this option is on, the Storm learns
all the names in your Contacts.
• Learn Words from Email Messages: You can choose All Messages
or Contacts Only.
• Predictive: If this option is on, every time you type, the Storm dis-
plays possible choices to predict the word you are typing. This can
be a timesaver.
• Include Spell Check Variants: This is related to the Predictive Input
option. If turned on, the predictive choice list includes different
spelling variants.
