Using the Self-Timer

In Self-Timer mode, the picture is taken ten seconds or two seconds
after the shutter release button is pressed.
Use the ten-second self-timer when you want to be included in a group
picture.
Use the two-second self-timer to avoid camera shake when you press
the shutter release button.

Press the ( button in Capture mode to display g on
the LCD monitor.
Depending on the previous setting, g or Z appears.

Press the shutter release button
fully.

The picture is taken approximately ten
seconds after the shutter release button
is pressed. The self-timer lamp lights for
about seven seconds, then blinks for
about three seconds.
Z
The self-timer lamp blinks for about two
seconds after the shutter release button is pressed and the picture
is taken.
Focusing may be compromised if you move the camera while the
self-timer lamp is blinking when taking still pictures. (1p.84)
• In C mode, recording movies will start after ten seconds (or two
seconds).
• Press the shutter release button halfway while the self-timer is
engaged to cancel the self-timer. Press the shutter release button
fully to reset the self-timer to ten seconds (or two seconds).
