    ENGLISH PREPARING FOR USE Machine Packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. We recommend keeping the packaging material for possible future transport. Machine Installation Remove the drip tray with grill and the carafe from the packaging. Remove the machine from the packaging.
  • Page 15 ENGLISH Remove the water tank by using the handle incorporated on the inner lid. Rinse the water tank with fresh water. Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water up to the MAX level and put it back into the machine. Make sure it is fully inserted. Caution: Never fi ll the water tank with warm, hot, sparkling water or any other liquid, as this may cause damage to the water tank and the machine.

    ENGLISH Insert the plug into the socket located on the back of the machine. Insert the plug on the other end of the power cord into a wall socket with suitable power voltage. Switch the power button on the back of the machine to “I” to turn on the machine.

    ENGLISH USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME When using the machine for the fi rst time, the following activities need to happen: 1) You have to select the language. 2) The machine will perform an automatic rinse/cleaning cycle. 3) You need to perform a manual rinse cycle. Language Selection At fi rst start-up, the language must be selected.

    ENGLISH Automatic Rinse/Cleaning Cycle When warm-up has been completed, the machine automatically performs a rinse/self-cleaning cycle of the internal circuits with fresh water. This takes less than a minute. Place a container under the coff ee dispensing spout to catch the small amount of water which will be dispensed.

    ENGLISH AQUACLEAN WATER FILTER The AquaClean fi lter is designed to reduce limescale build-up inside the machine and to provide fi ltered water in order to preserve the coff ee aroma and fl avour in each cup. By using the series of 8 AquaClean fi lters as indicated in this user manual, you will not need to descale the machine for 2 years or for the next 5000 cups (with 100-ml capacity).

    The machine allows for certain adjustments so that you can brew the best tasting coff ee possible. Saeco Adapting System Coff ee is a natural product and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast. The machine is equipped with a self-adjusting system that allows you to use all types of coff ee beans available on the market except for caramelized and fl avoured coff ee beans.

    ENGLISH CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily Cleaning of the Machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenance of your machine is very important as it prolongs the life of your machine. The machine is continuously exposed to humidity, coff ee and limescale! The activities you need to perform and their frequency are described in detail in this chapter.
  • Page 71 ENGLISH Empty the coff ee grounds drawer and wash it with fresh water. Empty the (internal) drip tray and the lid and wash them with fresh water. Correctly reinstall all the components. Insert the drip tray and the coff ee grounds drawer and close the ser- vice door.

    ENGLISH Note: Perform this operation also when the full drip tray indicator is raised. Daily Cleaning of the Water Tank Remove the small white fi lter or the AQUACLEAN water fi lter (if in- stalled) from the water tank and wash both with fresh water. Put the small white fi lter or the AQUACLEAN water fi lter (if installed) back in its housing by gently pressing and turning it at the same time.
  • Page 73 ENGLISH Remove the lid. Lift the carafe dispensing spout to remove it from the top of the carafe. Remove the suction tube with the fi tting (A) from the milk frother. Wash the suction tube with the fi tting thoroughly with fresh water. After installing the suction tube with the fi tting, insert the carafe dis- pensing spout on the top of the carafe.

    ENGLISH Weekly Cleaning of the Milk Carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough since all milk residues are removed from the dispensing spout. Press one of the release buttons to remove the top of the carafe as shown in the fi gures (A or B). Remove the lid.
  • Page 76 ENGLISH Remove the fi tting (B) from the suction tube. Detach the lid (C) from the milk carafe dispensing spout by slightly pressing on the sides while pushing downwards. Remove the milk frothing device (D) from the support (E). Remove the fi tting (F) from the milk frothing device by pulling it out- wards.

Attach the top (C) to the carafe dispensing spout. Insert the fi tting (B) into the suction tube. Insert the suction tube with the fi tting (A) into the milk frother.

    ENGLISH Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group The brew group should be cleaned every time the coff ee bean hopper is fi lled or at least once a week. Turn off the machine by pressing the “ ” button and remove the plug from the socket.
  • Page 80 ENGLISH Open the brew group unlocking lever. Seize the brew group handle and pull it outwards. While pulling the lever, remove the brew group.
