Performbelt maintenance outdoorsas somegas maypossibly
leakfrom the carburetoreventhoughyou placeda sheetof phsfic
underneaththe gas capto preventthegas cap from leaking.
3. Removethe self-tappingscrewshownin Figure17,and pressthe
plastictabs to releasethe beltcover.Pull the beltcover up and out
from aroundthe engineand chuteassembly.Setit asideand save.

IMPORTANT: G ascould leakfrom thecarburetorat this point,the
engine shouldhavebeen run untilthe fuel tank wasdry, as previously
instructed.
1. Tip the snowthrowerup and forwardso that it restson the auger
housing. Removethe beltkeeperas calledout in Figure19.Return
the snow throwerto its uprightpositionto completethe following
steps.
2. Slipthe front augerbelt off of theengine pulleypushingit forward
and rollingin off of the pulley.See Figure18.
3. Squeezethe augercontrolhandleto releasetheauger brake,
which is the tab that holdsthe beltonto theauger pulley.Remove
the belt.
4, Replacewith new beltafter replacingthedrive belt.

NOTE:Replacethe drivebelt beforereassembling the newaugerbelt.
1.Tip the snowthrowerup and forwardso that it restson the auger
housing.

2. Removethe springthat connectsthe transmissionto a bolton the
engineframe.See Figure19.
NOTE:it maybe easierto first removethe flangelock nut,then use
needle-nosed pliersto firmlygrip springand removefrom bolt.

Pivotthetransmissionforwardto releasepressureon the drivebelt.
Removebelt fromtransmissionpulley.
Removethe drivebeltfrom aroundthe enginepulley,and away
from the unit.

Placethe newdrivebelt intothe grooveon the enginepulley.See
Figure18.
Tilt thetransmissionforwardand positionthe drivebeltonto the
transmissionpulley.
Reconnect t he springto the bolton the engineframeand secure
the transmission.Reinstall t he flangelock nut.
Installnewauger belt.
Reassemble thebelt coveron the snowthrower.
10.Reassemble thebelt keeperto the housing.
