    The total water volume in the heating system is composed of the system volume (= fill water volume) plus the top-up water volume. In the POTTERTON boiler-spe- cific diagrams, only the system volume is given to make them easier to use. Over the entire service life of the boiler, a maximum top-up volume of twice the system volume is assumed.
