6.5 Troubleshooting Summary

Active alarms and the troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem are summarized in

Steps to resolve issue
This alarm should clear within 1 hour. If not there is an internal error.
Replace the ATS 6511.
An internal I2C bus is not responding. The unit should continue to operate
correctly, but should be power cycled at a convenient time. If the power
cycle does not clear the alarm, return the unit for repair.
Check left side fan rotation. If not rotating, replace fan.
If rotating, remove fan module by loosening two screws on the fan module
and slide out the front. Check the contacts from the wires through the
connectors for loose connection. If no loose connections are found, replace
the fan.
Check right side fan rotation. If not rotating, replace fan.
If rotating, remove fan module by loosening two screws on the fan module
and slide out the front. Check the contacts from the wires through the
connectors for loose connection. If no loose connections are found, replace
the fan.
Check the fiber cable to ensure it is connected and is the correct mode for
the transceivers in use. Check the fiber mode setting on the ATS 6511 to
ensure it matches the fiber protocol on the ATS 6501B (4372A, 4372A-T
and SW version on ATS 6501B matches the version on the ATS 6511)
Software is unable to load new firmware into one of the internal FPGAs.
Replace the ATS 6511.
Check 5071A electron multiplier voltage, if more than 2550V replace the
5071A.
Check 5071A continuous operation, if not in continuous operation replace
the 5071A.
Check 5071A oscillator control, if more than 95% replace the 5071A.
Check 5071A signal gain, if more than 95% replace the 5071A.
Leap seconds have not been determined properly, contact Symmetricom.

Internal OCXO control voltage is within 98% of maximum, replace ATS
6511 as soon as possible.
If one port is reporting a hardware error, remove the cable connected to
that port and see if the alarm clears. If it does not, replace the plug in
module.
Internal temperature is over limit. Ensure fan airflow is not restricted and
fans are rotating. If there are no fan alarms, fans are rotating at speed and
the fan filter is clear of debris, replace the ATS 6511 at earliest
convenience.
Ensure power supply is fully seated from the front.
Ensure power cord is connected at both the power supply and power strip.
Ensure power supply is fully seated from the front.

Check 5071A to ATS 6511B reference input cable.
Confirm that the ATS 6511 settings match the settings in the sys_cfg file.
Replace the ATS 6511.
If this alarm is present and no other alarms are present, reboot the ATS
6501. If the problem is not cleared, replace the ATS 6511.
Status only, not an alarm. Monitor for readings reaching over 90, which
