Note: The scanning application and scanner driver must be loaded on the
terminal to perform scanning.

Using the Dual-Position Trigger

The PDT 7200 has a dual-position scan trigger, which serves two functions. These functions
are programmable and may be changed for your application. The two positions of the trigger
are activated as follows:
The first trigger position is accessed by pulling the trigger to the first click and
!
releasing. This activates the keypad
The second position is accessed by pulling the trigger past the first click, the
!
remaining distance to the handle. This activates the scanner
Activation of the virtual keypad via the trigger can be disabled by pressing the "on
!
screen" user icon when the keypad is not visible, and re-enabled by pressing the icon
again. An audio sound is played upon activation and deactivation.

Using the Scanner

1. Verify that the terminal is on (the display is active).
2. Ensure that a scanning-capable application is loaded and prepared to allow
scanning.
3. Point the scanner at the bar code and pull the trigger to the handle.
4. Ensure that the scan beam crosses all bars and spaces on the symbol, as shown:

Optimal scanning distance varies with bar code density and scanner optics, but most
combinations work within 4 to 10 inches. Generally:
Hold the scanner farther away for larger symbols.
!

!
5. If the decode is successful, the LED turns from yellow to green. The terminal may
also beep.
