The fast - charge cont roller checks t he bat t ery's volt age and t em perat ure before t he st ar t
of t he fast recharge process. I f t he bat t ery volt age or t he t em perat ure exceeds t he fast -

charge lim it s, t he charger default s t o t rickle charge at C/ 10 or 70m A rat e.
Opt ional ext ernal bat t ery chargers are available for Dat am ax- O'Neil bat t eries. Refer t o
Sect ion 4.7 " Print er Supplies" for det ailed inform at ion.

Check for t he correct Dat am ax- O'Neil bat t ery part num ber and use only t hat part for t he
new bat t ery.
Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
Follow instructions in Section 4.5 to dispose of used batteries.

I t is st rongly recom m ended t hat t he print er be t est ed before it is ret urned t o Dat am ax- O'Neil.
Follow t hese st eps t o ident ify and correct any bat t ery pow er problem . These st eps will help
det erm ine if t he fault is w it h t he print er or wit h som e ot her part of t he syst em .

To t e st t h e AC a da pt e r :
Use a m ult im et er and m easure t he out put volt age. The out put should be 10VDC.

Press t he < ON/ OFF> swit ch and wait unt il all LEDs are off.

I nsert t he AC adapt er plug int o t he print er. I f t he am ber LED swit ches on, t he bat t ery is
not fully charged, however t he charge circuit is funct ioning correct ly.

The AC power port ion of t he circuit appears OK.

To t e st t h e D C pow e r :
Disconnect t he AC Adapt er aft er t he bat t ery has been allow ed t o charge for approx. 5
m inut es.

Press and hold t he < FEED> sw it ch, press and release t he < ON/ OFF> sw it ch and t hen
release t he < FEED> swit ch. The print er w ill print a " self t est " receipt .

I f t he self t est receipt is print ed, t he DC power is OK.


Press t he < ON/ OFF> swit ch and wait unt il all LED's are off.

Plug t he AC power adapt er int o t he print er. Press < ON> ; t he green LED will illum inat e and
swit ch off aft er approx. 20 seconds.
