Installation
CONNECTING THE DRYER TO HOUSE VENT
RIGID METALTRANSITION DUCT
• Forbest drying performance,a rigid metal transition duct is
recommended.
• Rigid metaltransitions ductsreduce the riskof crushing andkinking.
UL-LISTED FLEXIBLE METAL (SEMI-RIGID TRANSITION DUCT
• tf rigid metal duct cannot be used,then UL-listedflexible
metal (semi-rigid)ducting can be used(KitWX08X10077).
• Neverinstall flexible metal duct in walls,ceilings,floors or
other enclosedspaces.
• Totallengthofflexiblemetalduct shouldnotexceed8 feet(2.4m).
• Formany applications,installing elbowsat both the dryer
and the wall is highly recommended(seeillustrations below).
Elbowsallow the dryer to sit closeto the wall without kinking
and or crushing the transition duct, maximizing drying
performance.
• Avoid restingthe duct on sharp objects.

• tnspecial installations, i t may be necessary to connectthe
dryerto the housevent usinga flexible metal (foiltype) d uct.
A UL-listedflexiblemetal (foil-type)duct may be usedONLY
in installationswhere rigid metal or flexiblemetal (semi-rigid)
ducting cannot be usedANDwhere a 4" diameter can be
maintainedthroughoutthe entirelength of the transitionduct.
• tn Canadaand the United States,only the flexible metal (foil-
type) ducts that complywith the "Outlinefor ClothesDryer
TransitionDuct Subject2158A"shall be used.
• Neverinstall flexible metal duct in walls,ceilings,floors or
other enclosedspaces.
• Totallengthofflexiblemetalduct shouldnotexceed8 feet(2.4m).
• Avoid restingthe duct on sharp objects.
• Forbest drying performance:
1. Slideone end of the duct overthe clothesdryer outlet
pipe.
2. Securethe duct with a clamp.
3.With the dryer in its permanent position,extendthe duct
to its full length.Allow 2" of duct to overlap the exhaust
pipe.Cut off and removeexcessduct. Keepthe duct as
straight as possiblefor maximum airflow.
4. Securethe duct to the exhaust pipe with the other clamp.

• If your dryer is approvedfor installation in an alcoveor closet,
it will be stated on a label on the dryer back.
• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors.Seethe EXHAUST
INFORMATION section.
• Minimum clearancebetween dryer cabinet and adjacent
walls or other surfacesis:
0 in. either side
] in.front and rear
• Minimumvertical space from floor to overheadcabinets,
ceiling, etc.is 52 in.
• Closetdoorsmust be Iouveredor otherwiseventilated and
must contain a minimum of 60 sq.in. of open area equally
distributed. If the closet containsboth a washer and a dryer,
doors must contain a minimum of 120 sq.in,of open area
equallydistributed.
• Thecloset shouldbe vented to the outdoors to prevent gas
pocketing in case of a gas leakin the supply line.
• No other fuel-burning applianceshall be installed in the same
closetwith the dryer.

• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors.SeeEXHAUST
INFORMATION section 6.
• Theinstallation must conform with local codesor,in the
absenceof local codes,with the NATIONAL FUEL GASCODE,
ANSIZ223.

[n-IMOBILE OR MANUFACTURED HOME INSTALLATION
• Installation must conform to the MANUFACTURED HOME
CONSTRUCTION & SAFETY STANDARD, TITLE24, PART 32-80
or,when such standard is not applicable,with AMERICAN
NATIONAL STANDARD FORMOBILE HOME,NO.501B.
• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors with the
termination securelyfastenedto the mobilehome structure.
(SeeEXHAUST INFORMATION section 6.)
• Thevent MUSTNOTbe terminated beneatha mobile or
manufactured home.
• Thevent duct material MUSTBEMETAL.
• KIT 14-D346-33MUSTbe usedto attach the dryer securelyto
the structure.
• Thevent MUSTNOTbe connectedto any other duct, vent, or
chimney.
• Do not usesheet metal screwsor other refasteningdevices
which extend into the interior of the exhaustvent.
• Providean opening with a free area of at least 25 sq. in.or
introduction of outside air into the dryer room.
• Stackingof a gas dryer is not permitted in a mobile homeor
manufactured home.
