This section lists power specifications for tape drives.

Rack Mount Tape Drive Power Specifications

Note – The tape drive draws the same power from the power supply regardless of the
AC input voltage.
For the purposes of figuring the amount of heat generated by a tape drive and its
associated power supply, use the figure of 172.3 watts, which converts to approximately
588 Btu/hr. Because there are usually two tape drives in a rack mount unit, these
figures are doubled for a complete rack mounted pair of tape drives, or 244.6 watts,
which converts to 1,176 Btu/hr.

Library-attached Tape Drive Power Specifications

For SL3000 and SL8500 libraries, use the power figure of 100 watts for each tape drive
and its associated power supply and use a heat figure of 341.29 Btu/hr.
For other libraries, use the power specifications for a single rack mount tape drive and
power supply. In those libraries, there is one AC/DC power supply for each tape drive.
