Establishing the Start Up Configuration

The CLI allows you to administer the AG 3100's start-up configuration settings.
When establishing the start-up configuration for a new installation, you are
connected to the AG 3100 via a direct serial connection (you do not have remote
access capability because the AG 3100 is not yet configured or connected to a
network). Once the installation is complete (see
33) and the system is successfully configured, you will have the additional options
of managing the AG 3100 remotely from the system's Web Management
Interface, an SNMP client manager of your choice, or a simple Telnet interface.
The start up configuration must be established before connecting the AG 3100 to a customer's
network. The "start up" configuration settings include:
Assigning Login User Names and Passwords on page 43
login user name and password that enables you to administer and manage the AG
3100 securely.
User names and passwords are case-sensitive.
Setting the SNMP Parameters (optional) on page 45
Management Protocol) parameters must be established before you can use an SNMP
client (for example, HP OpenView) to manage and monitor the AG 3100 remotely.
Enabling the Logging Options (recommended) on page 46
and set up if you want to create system and AAA (billing) log files, and retrieve error
messages generated by the AG 3100.
