What to do, if ...

Problem
No power
No image
No sound
Inferior picture quality.
Playback not possible.
There is interference with images from an
external source.
A channel is skipped when using P+ / P-.
The image or sound on the transmission chan-
nel is weak or absent.
The camcorder image is not displaying.
The camcorder image is not appearing on the
television screen when using the A/V input or
DV IN to the DVD recorder.
A disc that was recorded to from this DVD
recorder cannot be played on a different DVD
player.

Possible cause
The mains cable is not plugged in..
The television is not switched to receive signals
from the DVD recorder.
The SCART cable is not properly connected.
The television that is connected is switched off.
The connected audio equipment is not switched to
DVD playback.
The audio cables are not properly connected.
The connected audio equipment is switched off.
The audio connection cable is faulty.
The disc is dirty.
There is no disc.
A non-playable disc has been inserted.
The disc has not been inserted with the playable
side downwards.
The disc has not been properly placed in the guide.
The disc is dirty.
A security rating has been set.
The video signal from the external component is
copy-protected.
The channels have not been saved in the recorder.
Loose antenna or cable.
The camcorder is switched off.
The DVD recorder AV selection is wrong.
The disc was recorded in video mode.
Remedy
Fix the mains cable firmly into a socket.
Select the right video input mode on the television, so that
the image from the DVD recorder appears on the television
screen.
Connect the SCART cable properly.
Switch the television on.
Set the audio receiver so that you can hear the sound playing
on your DVD recorder.
Connect the audio cable properly.
Switch on the audio equipment that is connected.
Change it.
Clean the disc.
Insert a disc. (Check that the disc display comes on in the
display window.)
Insert a writable disc. (Check the disc type, the colour system
and the region code.)
Insert the disc with the playable side downwards.
Position the disc properly into the guide in the disc drawer.
Clean the disc.
Cancel the security rating or change the protection.
You cannot get a connection from this recorder. Connect the
component directly into the television.
Retune the channels. See channel tuning on pages 18-19.
Tighten the connections or change the cable.
Switch the camcorder and make sure your are using it
properly.
Select the input channel (AV1, AV2, DV etc.) with DVD-AV.
