d ish w ash er s:
– W ooden cutlery and crockery or
items with wooden parts: these may
discolour and fade. The glue used in
these items is not dishwasher-proof
and wooden handles may come
loose after being washed in a
dishwasher.
– C raft items, antiq ues, valuable vases
and decorative glassware are also
not suitable for dishwashers.
– P lastic items which are not heat
resistant can melt or lose shape.
– C opper, brass, tin and aluminium
items may discolour or become matt.
– C olours painted over a glaz e
may fade after a number of washes.
– C louding may occur on glasses after
freq uent washing. D o not wash
delicate glassware, or glassware
containing lead cry stal in a
dishwasher.

– W hen purchasing new crockery and
cutlery , make sure they are
dishwasher-proof.
– If delicate glassware is washed in the
dishwasher ensure that only very low
temperatures are used (see
programme chart), or a special
glass-care programme is used
(depending on model). This will
reduce the risk of clouding.
– Wash particularly delicate glassware
by hand
P lease no te
S ilv er w ar e previously cleaned with a
silv er p o lish may still be damp or
spotted at the end of a programme,
where water has not run off smoothly . It
may need to be rubbed dry with a soft
cloth. It may need to be rubbed dry

S ilver which has been in contact with
foods containing sulphur can discolour.
These include egg y olk, onions,
may onnaise, mustard, pulses, fish, fish
brine and marinades.

A luminium components (e.g.
grease filters) must not be cleaned
with caustic alkaline commercial or
industrial cleaning agents. These
may damage the material, or in
ex treme cases, cause a severe
chemical reaction. S ee section

on suitable detergents.
