FILE CHECKING
• The engine is started while accessing, such
as recording to the HDD.
• The RESET button of this unit is pressed.
t Wait a moment until the restoration of the
data on the HDD is completed.
Messages on "MG Memory Stick"
FORMAT ERROR
The inserted "MG Memory Stick" is of a
format this unit does not support. (e.g. an "MG
Memory Stick" formatted with a computer,
etc.)
t Format the "MG Memory Stick" following
the instructions (page 46). (Be sure to
format it with this unit. If you format it
with your computer, you may Check-In/
Out. However you cannot play it back
using this unit.)
EXPIRED
• The track's playback period has expired.
• A track beyond the playback restriction
supported by this unit has been selected.
t If music data cannot be played back, you
can erase it from the "MG Memory
Stick."
MG ERROR
An unauthorised distribution file is detected
for copyright protection.
t Eject and reinsert the "MG Memory Stick,"
then check the display again.
t If the erasure prevention switch is ON, set
it to OFF, then reinsert it and check the
display again.
t Format the "MG Memory Stick" with this
unit.
READ ONLY STICK
The inserted "MG Memory Stick" is read-
only.
t Editing the data on this "MG Memory
Stick" is not possible.
NO CONTENTS
There are no contents that can be played back.
t If the "Memory Stick" does not include any
music files, Check-Out some music files to
it.
CONTENTS ERROR
• The selected content is not of a format this
unit supports.
• The track data cannot be read.
t Eject and reinsert the "Memory Stick,"
then check the display again.
t If music data cannot be played back, you
can erase it from the "Memory Stick."
t Play back content of a bit rate this unit
supports.

STICK ERROR
• The unit cannot access the "Memory Stick."
• An abnormal condition of the "Memory
Stick" or the unit is detected.
t Eject and reinsert the "Memory Stick." If
this does not solve the problem, transfer
the data on the "Memory Stick" to a
computer, etc., then format the "Memory
Stick" with this unit. If the problem
persists, bring both the "Memory Stick"
and this unit to the your local authorised
Sony service facility.
CANNOT RESTORE
There is a folder that has the same name as the
one you are trying to restore on the "Memory
Stick."
t Erase the folder on the "Memory Stick."
Messages on HDD/"Memory Stick"
FORMAT ERROR
The inserted "Memory Stick" is of a format
this unit does not support.
FULL CAPACITY
The HDD and/or the "Memory Stick" is full.
LOW TEMP
The ambient temperature around the HDD
and/or the "Memory Stick" is too low.
NO MEDIA
A "Memory Stick" is not inserted when you
attempt to Import/Export.
CANNOT IMPORT
The unit cannot import.
NO DATAFILE
There is no Import file in the "Memory Stick."
HDD LIBRARY MODIFIED
After exporting, HDD was edited in the unit
before importing.
INVALID LIBRARY
EXPORT AGAIN
Before exporting, you attempt to import.
CANNOT EXPORT
The unit cannot export.
STICK LOCKED
• The erasure prevention switch on the
"Memory Stick" is set to LOCK.
• The "Memory Stick" is protected from
writing.
DISK READ ERROR
The HDD cannot read.
DISK WRITE ERROR
The HDD cannot write.
NO INSTALL FILE
• The Gracenote CDDB
not inserted.
• There is no install file in the Gracenote
CDDB
