workstation! Users can then use Personal Information Managers (PIMs) or other TAPI software to
make or receive calls and manage call information.
In addition to LAN TAPI, Panasonic offers two PC Console applications for the Attendant
position. One is a low-end product (supports up to 96 extensions) and the other is high-end (up
to 384 extensions). The PC Console controls the system's calls from the computer, and the
attendant can watch everything on the PC monitor.
Panasonic also offers proprietary software for a PC Phone, which replaces the desktop extension
phone. End-users can control their own phone calls using the computer.
Networking services.
The DBS 576 offers several ways to set up networking -- tying multiple DBS 576 systems together
through the public switching network. E&M Tie Lines let you connect directly to another DBS 576
system using a leased voice line. T-1 or QSIG (ISDN line) Networking lets you tie multiple
systems together through the network, so that (for example) when one location closes for the day,
its calls can be picked up by another location across the country.
And with Voice over IP lines, you
can connect DBS 576 systems and sites together across IP network (WAN) lines.
A user can also
turn a long-distance call into a local one by accessing another location and then dialing the
number as a local call.
Panasonic also offers the Network BLF system, which allows one or more attendants to monitor
the status of any extension in a physically separated, networked system, using phones or PCs
located at any site in the system.
The system can also be set up in a Tandem (T-1 Network) environment, adding further benefits to
the users at each location. For example, each switch can analyze the number dialed, and
automatically route the call to other locations, extensions, or go through another location's switch
to place a local call.
You can even expand your system to include extensions in remote sites, by using the MCK
Extender system to connect digital key phones to the DBS 576 across an IP network line.
Automatic Call Distribution.
With the IFM (Integrated Feature Module) ACD system,
or the
standard
"Built-in", calls can be
automatically distributed to the least-busy extension first, or on a next-available-extension basis. If
the extension doesn't answer the call, you can program the system to continue searching, transfer
to a particular extension, transfer to Voice Mail, or disconnect the call. You can control what the
caller hears while he/she is waiting. Supervisors can instantly access the current status of all
agents right from their desk using a Large-Display telephone - no need for costly computer
programs to provide "real-time reporting." MIS reports can also be generated
using ACD/MIS
software from a PC. IFM ACD offers enhanced call routing/reporting capabilities.
2-Way Call Recording.
This is another Built-in option with the DBS 576. Users can record phone conversations, and store
them (like voicemail messages) in their mailboxes.
Voice Mail
The PanaVOICE Courier Voice Processing System is a comprehensive Automated Attendant and
Voice Mail application designed to deliver solutions for almost any customer application. The
Courier application resides on the Integrated Feature Module (IFM), a PC platform card that slides
into the DBS 576 cabinet. This high-level of integration provides the user with state-of-the art call
processing functionality and a host of unique features.
The Courier line-up gives you several configuration options depending on your individual
