The BASIC command processes
source
program
statements

BASIC
language,
The
BASIC
interpreteT',
BASIC,
can be used to create, modify,
and
inteT'pret
these
source
statements.
The
BASIC
interprete~
is invoked from the MDOS command
line as are other
MDOS
commands;
however;
the
interpreter
requires
that
the
system
has
a
minimum
of
20K
bytes of
memory.
The format of the command

ine is:
BASIC <name l>C,<name

where (name 1> is the name of a source
program
file
to
be
loaded
or
cT'eated,
and
<name 2> can be the name
of
a file
into which the source program file
is
to be saved.
Both file
specifications are
of
the standard MDOS file name format

unit number:»
The
default
suffix
"SAil
and the default logical unit number
zero will be automatically supplied if
none
are
explicitly
entered.
If
<name 1> is the name of file which
alread~
exists in
the directory,
then it must contain a
valid'
BASIC
program.
The
contents of the file <name 1> will then be automatically
loaded into the work space.
If <name 1> does not
exist,
it
will
be used to save the contents of the work space when the
BASIC interpreter is terminated.
The file <name

can optionally be
used
to
save
the
contents
or
the
work
space
if
<name
1>
is
to be left
unchanged.
Ir (name
2)
is specified,
it must be the
name
of!
a file that does not already exist.
