INSTALLATION
Location
Before operating the pre-amplifier, select its location in the listening room. Do
not locate the unit in direct sunlight, naar radiators or ether sources of heat.
Locations having high humidity or excessive dust should be avoided if at all
possible. Ifyou plan to install the pre-amplifier in any type of cabinet or enclosure,
be sure to allow for adequate ventilation. To insure best performance, take the
time to prepare alocation that is sturdy enough to support the pre-amplifier and
its associated components.
Additional Equipment
Any additional audio equipment that you may wish to purchase should be of the
same high quality as this pre-amplifier. The Philips 572 is compatible with ether
products from Philips High Fidelity Laboratories as weil as most ether high
quality component equipment.

SYSTEM CONNECTION
Power Amplifier or MFB Speaker System
Two sets of stereo outputs are provided on the back panel of the pre-amplifier.
These may be connected to stereo power amplifiers and/or directly to Philips'
MFB (Motional Feedback) loudspeaker systems. Ifonlyone stereo power amplifier
or MFB stereo system is used, connect to the OUTPUT 1 terminals using the
audio cable supplied with the pre-amplifier. The upperterminal is the left channel
and the lower terminal is the right channel.
Record Player
Two record players with magnetic cartridges may be connected to the Phono 1
and Phono 2 inputs. The Phono Level controls on the back of the pre-amplifier
have been pre-set at the factory for a level of2 mV(Phono 1)and 10 mV(Phono 2).
However, these levels may be adjusted for any setting between 1.5 mVand 18
mV.Ifthe record players have separate ground wires, these should be connected
to the ground terminals on the back of the pre-amplifier. NOTE: If either set of
phono inputs is not used, they must be grounded to prevent excessive hum in the
amplifier. Four grounding plugs have been provided for this purpose. Simply
insert the plugs into the unused phono terminals.
Tuner
An
AM/FM
Stereo tuner can be connected to the TUNER input terminals. The
upper terminal is the left channel and the lower ene is the right channel. An
additional tuner mayalso be connected to the AUXinputs.
Tape Deck
Two tape decks can be connected to this pre-amplifier for recording, playback
and tape-ta-tape duplicating in either direction.
Recording Connection
Connectthe Line inputs of the tape decktothe TAPEA REC terminals. Asecond
tape deck may be connected to the TAPE B REC terminals if so desired. The
upper terminal is the left channel and the lower ene is the right channel.
Playback and Monitor Connections
Connect the Line or Minitor outputs of the first tape deck to the TAPE A PLAY
terminals. The second tape deck is connected to the TAPE B PLAYterminals in
the same manner.
Aux Inputs
The Aux inputs can be used for an additional source such as a stereo cassette
tape deck, sound track from a television or another tuner. The upper terminal is
the left channel and the lower ene is the right channel.
