Intended use The ZP-EPC10 protocol converter is designed to provide an interface between the CEC C328 matrix switcher and the dome cameras of the SMD series from CBC. The device converts the data transfer between protocols RS422 and RS485. The unit is designed exclusively for this function.
Repair and Maintenance • Never open the housing of the protocol converter. The device does not contain parts that you can repair or replace yourself. • Ensure that repair or maintenance work is carried out by qualified personnel (electrical engineers). ZP-EPC10...
Cable made to Belden specifications Summary of features The ZP-EPC10 protocol converter is designed to convert control signals between RS422 (full-duplex) and RS485 (half-duplex) protocol. In addition to adjusting for diffe- rent pin assignments, the unit also converts the protocols used by the CEC C328 video multiplexer and the SMD-type dome cameras manufactured by CBC.

You can lock the protocol converter in place on its own or as one of several devices into a RS422 bus on the CEC C328 matrix switcher. The order or position of each of the sin- gle devices has no particular effect because each device has its own address within the bus system. ZP-EPC10...

In an RS485 cascade, if cabling constraints make it impossible to connect the protocol converter in the first position, then the TERM 2 switch should be in the OFF position (down). The first and last dome camera in such a daisy chain must have their terminal re- sistors connected. ZP-EPC10...

As a minimum, you should make the following checks: Selection of every camera connected to the system Correct operation of functions controlled through the video multiplexer Correct execution of programmed functions (e.g. pre-programmed camera positions) Correct execution of automatic functions (e.g. auto-pan) ZP-EPC10...
The device contains agents which can be harmful to the environment. Legal requirements must be respected when disposing of such agents. To dispose of defective equipment or components you no longer need, contact an au- thorised industrial waste disposal or your local waste authority. ZP-EPC10...
• Make your selection for the address range, between 1 (lower address) and 12 (upper address). • Assign addresses 1 to 12 to the cameras. • Use the multiplexer to select any camera in the range 1 to 12. ZP-EPC10...
