Removing Chuck

or Faceplate
To remove a chuck or faceplate from the lathe
spindle nose:

Disconnect the lathe/mill from the power
source!

ALWAYS place a piece
of plywood over lathe
bed-ways before remov-
ing or installing a lathe
chuck. This covers the
sharp corners of the
bed, protecting your
hands and fingers from
a pinch injury.

tolerances are tight, so you may need to wig-
gle the chuck/faceplate back-and-forth, rotate
it

of a turn, wiggle it, rotate it and continue

repeating this process until the chuck comes
out. Never use a pry bar or other similar tool
to force the chuck/faceplate out!
