Mail Type

SMS (Short Message Service)

Send short text messages to SoftBank handsets in Japan and
overseas.
Tip
Up to 70 characters (up to 160 single-byte) can be entered. Files
cannot be attached.

S! Mail

Attach images/audio files to send multimedia messages to handsets
or PCs.
Customize handset address (P.5-17).
Tip
Up to 300KB including subject, text, address and attachments can be
sent/received. Up to 20 files can be attached.

Internet Mail (POP3/IMAP4
Exchange messages the same way as on PC at home or in the office.
Files can be attached.
Set a mail account (P.5-18).
Synchronize the handset with the mail server to send/receive mail.
Note
Internet Mail will not be downloaded automatically. Synchronize
with the mail server to download mail.
Periodic connections allow for near-automatic transmissions,
however, connection charges may apply each time.
Use Exchange Server for automatic reception (P.5-2).
To send Internet Mail, synchronize with a mail server.
Transmission via Exchange Server
To use Exchange Server mail at work, configure settings with
ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. For procedures,
contact your system administrator.
PC-Synchronized Outlook E-mail
Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to create an
Outlook E-mail account on the handset. Mail cannot be received to
this account.
Mail sent from this account will be moved to the Outlook Outbox on
the PC when synchronized.
Only the Inbox is synchronized by default. Change settings to
synchronize other Outlook folders
