    User Guide Introduction This manual will help you install the DVI Ranger model 500. The instructions in this guide assume a general knowledge of computer installation procedures, familiarity with cabling requirements, and some understanding of DVI devices. : Notes give additional information that could make installation NOTE easier.

    DVI Ranger 500 About the DVI Ranger The DVI Ranger brings the benefits of digital transmission to extended range video applications. With the DVI Ranger, any DVI-capable source of video information can be connected to a DVI display up to 100 metres away. (In special circumstances, this can even be extended to 500 metres.)
  • Page 7 DVI-D receptacle for connection to computer or other video source Power connector Receptacle for connection of 12V DC power adapter : The power adapter for the DVI Ranger 500 can be connected to NOTE either the TX unit or to the RX unit, as convenient.
  • Page 8 DVI Ranger 500 The RX unit The RX unit connects to the video display using a conventional DVI cable. Depending on your needs, it also connects to a power outlet through an AC power adapter. The physical structure of the RX unit is identical to that of the TX unit shown previously.
  • Page 9 User Guide DDC. This EDID/DDC information is obtained from the display by the RX unit and transmitted to the TX unit over a Category 5 UTP cable. The information is then relayed to the computer over the DVI cable. • In certain applications, the EDID/DDC function is not required.

  • Page 11: Connecting The Tx Unit To The Rx Unit

    User Guide Connecting the TX unit to the RX unit : To ensure proper operation, we recommend that only Category 5 or NOTE better, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cabling be used to connect the TX unit to the RX unit. The UTP cabling must have a straight- through conductor configuration with no crossovers, and must be terminated with 8-conductor RJ45 connectors at both ends.

    Hardware Remedies Icron Technologies Corporation’s entire liability and the Licensee’s exclusive remedy for any breach of warranty, shall be, at Icron Technologies Corporation’s option, either (a) return of the price paid or (b) repair or replacement of hardware, which will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer.
