Troubleshooting Overview

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a systematic method of isolating problems you may
have with the Satellite 1700 series Notebook Computer. A basic understanding of
DOS-based computer systems as well as knowledge of standard troubleshooting procedures
is assumed.
It is understood that the problems are related with the notebook itself. The system BIOS Beep
Code is an integrated unit that detects some errors in the system board. This beep code will
immediately identify certain system board problems. If the troubleshooting procedures are
followed step by step, problems can be easily isolated and solved.
