Changing volume lock

The remote control is set to control volume of a component through your
TV while in the TV, VCR, or Cable mode. However, in an Audio mode (i.e.
CD), you have separate control of your audio component's volume. If your
TV is not remote controllable, or if you want volume to be controlled by a
different component, you can change the Volume Lock setting to control a
volume through a non-associated mode (e.g.,through the cable in the TV
mode).
To change Volume Lock to the another mode:
1 Press and hold the SET UP key until the LED blinks twice, then
release the SET UP key.
2 Press the numeric key to enter "9 - 9 - 3", then press any mode key
once (except TV).
• The LED will blink twice.
3 At this point, whenever you press the VOLUME +/– keys, or the
MUTE key, volume will be controlled by your mode choice.
4 To unlock, press the SET UP key until the LED blinks twice, and
press the numeric key to enter "9-9-3", then press the VOLUME
+ key.
• The LED will blink 4 times upon being unlock.
To change Volume Lock back to the TV mode:
1 Press and hold the SET UP key until the LED blinks twice, then
release the SET UP key.
2 Press the numeric key to enter "9 - 9 - 3", then press the TV
key.
• The LED will blink twice.
3 At this point, whenever you press the VOLUME +/– keys, or
MUTE key, volume will be controlled by your TV.
4 To unlock, press the TV key, then the SET UP key until the
LED blinks twice, and press the numeric key to enter "9-9-3",
then press the VOLUME – key.
• The LED will blink 4 times upon being unlock.
Basic remote control operations for other components

Operating other components

This operation lets you operate the registered components.
KENWOOD audio components with system control turn on and off
automatically with the receiver via the system control connections.

Use the input selector keys to select the component you
desire.
• Pressing the input selector keys also changes the input selector on
the receiver.
• When you operate your registered TV, VCR, or DVD player, go
to step 2.
• When you operate the CD player, Cassette deck, MD player, or
Tuner with system control connection, go to step 3.

Press the operation keys you desire.
• To return to the receiver operation mode, press the RECEIVER key.
Notes
• Be sure to point the remote control at the remote sensor on the
receiver when you want to operate KENWOOD components con-
nected by system control cords. Otherwise, point the remote control
at the component you want to operate.
• To initialize the remote control, press the SET UP key until the LED
blinks twice. Then press the numeric key to to enter "9-8-0". The LED
blinks twice.
