Integrating the telephone into the communication environment
Adaption to an existing network

Latch the four-pin (red) Western plug (RJ 11) of the power sup-
ply unit cord in the receptacle (1) on the bottom of the tele-
phone. Feed the power supply unit cord through the guide
channel in the base unit.
The Western plugs of all cable connections must audibly
snap into place.
1. Ask your network administator to assign an Ethernet port
(10BaseT) to your telephone.
2. Ask him if the network contains a DHCP server and a SNTP
server.
If no DHCP server exists he has to give you an IP address for
the telephone and for the subnet mask which you have to enter
into your telephone manually.
If no SNTP server exists, you have to enter time and date man-
ually into your telephone.
Like all terminal equipment connected to a LAN, the optiPoint 100
advance must have an IP address assigned. The procedure for
setting up the network environment for the telephone is described
below. Note that the optiPoint 100 advance is designed to operate
in a HiPath environment, but this is not mandatory.
Without HiPath environment the telephone is only reach-
able via a telephone number (E.164/H.323) if a gatekee-
per is integrated in the network.
Otherwise it is only reachable via IP address.
If the optiPoint 100 advance is used in a HiPath environment and
a DHCP server is integrated in the HiPath environment, the tele-
phone unit will automatically get an IP address from it when you
connect it to the LAN for the first time. Otherwise, you must manu-
ally enter an IP address for the unit. You have to enter manually
the unit's telephone number in any case.
