    TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE Welcome to the Dashboard The Dashboard will provide you with the current status of the Range Extender. SCAN to find an available network to extend. During the setup process, the wizard will refer to the Home Network and the Extended Network: The Home Network is the network you are trying to extend.

    TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE Select a Home Network to Extend Select the Wi-Fi network that you wish to extend and tap Next to continue. Check that your Wi-Fi Network has a signal strength of 70% or greater. If you fail to find any Wi-Fi networks, or your signal strength is below 70%, the Range Extender may be placed too far from the Wi-Fi network that you are trying to extend.

    TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE Connecting to a Secure Network If the Wi-Fi network you are trying to extend has Wi-Fi security enabled, you will be prompted to enter a Security Key. If you did not select a secure network, you will not see this page.

    TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE Extended Network Settings The default SSID of the Range Extender’s Extended Network “Amped TAP-EX”. If you choose to Clone the settings from your Home Network, the wizard will copy the SSID and Security Key of your Home Network.

To access the main Settings Menu tap Settings from the Dashboard. From there you can access additional Wi-Fi Settings or Management Settings.

Should you choose to skip the Setup Wizard and manually configure your Range Extender, this is the menu you use to do so.

Extended Network SSID: This is the Identification name of the repeated/extended network. Security Key: Enter the security key of the Extended Network. This is the password that your network devices will use to connect to the Extended Network.

    System Logs are useful for viewing the activity and history of the Range Extender. The System Logs are also used by Amped Wireless techs to help troubleshoot your Range Extender when needed. It is recommended that you enable all logs in the event that troubleshooting is required. All log entries are deleted each time the Range Extender reboots or is powered off.

  • Page 78 TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE Troubleshooting The tips in this guide are listed in order of relevance. Try solution (a) before trying solution (b), etc. Troubleshooting: Home Network Connection Issues I cannot connect to my Home Network. I received an error when running the Setup Wizard.
  • Page 79 TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE I cannot find my Home Network when scanning for Wi-Fi networks in the Setup Wizard. The Range Extender may be out of range. Move the Range Extender closer to the Wi-Fi router and try the Setup Wizard again from the Touch Screen Menu. It is recommended that your Home Network shows a signal strength of 70% or greater in the Wizard SCAN results.

However, in the case that it does not, check to see that your home Wi-Fi router settings have not changed.   • Page 83 TAP-EX USER’S GUIDE Troubleshooting: Touch Screen Issues I forgot the touch screen passcode for the Range Extender and can no longer access the Touch Screen Menu. Once you have exhausted all attempts at recovering your passcode, reset the Range Extender to default settings by holding the reset button, located on the right side of the Range Extender, for 5 to 10 seconds.

Step back at least 10 feet from the Range Extender and check your signal again. The Range Extender emits high power, long range Wi-Fi signals that may confuse your wireless adapter signal reading at close range.
