4. Rem ove solenoid assembly. (Figure 7A 1-139B )
5. Rem ove "0"-ring seal from solenoid assembly.
6. Inspect solenoid assembly ball check valve for nicks
or damage.
CONVERTER CLUTCH APPLY VALVES:
Inspection
1. R em ove the converter clutch valve bushing retaining
pin. (Figure 7A 1-139C )
2. R em ove the converter clutch valve bushing. (Figure
7A 1-139D )
3. R em ove the apply and actuator valves. (Figure 7A1-
139E)
4. Inspect the apply and actuator valves for nicks or
damage.
5. Inspect valves for free operation in bushing bore.

PRESSURE REGULATOR

Inspection
1. To prevent the pump from turning w hile removing
the pressure regulator valve, place a bolt or screwdriver
through a hole in the pump and bench. (Figure 7A 1-139).
2. U sing small screwdriver, push on bore plug,
com pressing pressure regulator spring; and using snap ring
pliers, remove retaining ring. (Figure 7A 1-139).
3. Release valve spring tension slow ly and remove valve
train.
4. Inspect pressure regulator valve for nicks or damage.
5. Inspect spring and guide for damage or distortion.
6. Inspect pressure regulator valve for free operation
in bore.
NOTICE:
D o not drop the check ball that is in the
pump, as the pump body and pump cover are separated.
7. R em ove pump cover to pump body attaching bolts
and separate pump cover from pump body.
PUMP BODY
Inspection
1. R em ove the check ball 7.14m m (.281") from the
pump body or pump cover and keep it separated from the
five check balls 6.35m m (.250") used in the case and control
valve assembly.
2. R em ove drive and driven gear from pump body.
(Figure 7A 1-140).
3. Inspect drive and driven gears for scoring, galling or
damage:
NOTICE:
Driven gear identification marks should be
against the pump body gear pocket. (See Figure 7A 1-
144
for
identification.)
identification mark on each drive tang (Figure 7A 1-
140). This side should be facing away from the pump
body gear pocket.
4. Inspect drive and driven gear pocket and crescent for
scoring or damage.
