VALVES
Inspect Valve Clearance
A. Refer to the Specifications table in Section A.
Adjust Valve Clearance
A. Refer to the Specifications table in Section A.
Inspect Valve Seat
A. Remove the valve. See Remove Valve Mechanism in
Section A.
B.
Check the valve seating surface [A] between the
valve [B] and valve seat [C].
C. Coat the valve seat with machinist's dye.
D. Push the valve into the guide.
E. Rotate the valve against the seat with a lapping tool.
F. Pull the valve out, and check the seating pattern on
the valve head. It must be the correct width and even
all the way around.

The valve stem and guide must be in good condition, or this
check will not be valid.
