Courses

The EFX lets the user choose between five variable courses. This section provides
information about the special features and functions of the EFX courses and how to
best utilize the:
• Manual course

• Gluteal course

• Interval course
Note: To choose a course, begin pedaling. Once the Precor banner appears, press
Enter. User-friendly prompts guide you through the course selections. Refer to
Quick Steps to Working Out on page 39.
MANUAL MODE AND THE QUICKSTART
Manual mode lets you set the ramp incline and pedal resistance levels. As with
other courses, when you complete the time limit set for the course, the automatic
cool-down period begins.
You can choose Manual mode in two different ways:
pressing the QuickStart key at the Precor banner. QuickStart bypasses the
remaining selections and starts the Manual course. Default values
include a time limit of 30 minutes (or the custom settings, whichever is less),
150 lbs. (68 kg.) and an age of zero. The SmartRate
pressing Enter at the Precor banner. This causes the EFX to display several
Setup prompts. At the COURSE prompt, select MANL.
The Manual course profile initially appears as a flat line. Use the appropriate ▼▲
keys to adjust the ramp incline and resistance levels. (See pages 34 and 35 for
more information.) As you proceed with your workout, a blinking column represents
your position on the course.
GLUTEAL COURSE
For your convenience, the workout time and ramp incline in the Gluteal course is
preset. Review the display label to ascertain the ascent and descent you'll be
feeling throughout the course. Anytime during the workout, you can override the
incline settings by pressing the Incline ▼▲ keys. The course profile columns
change to reflect the change in incline.
The workout time for the Gluteal course is preset at thirty minutes so you are not
prompted (during the Setup prompts) to enter a workout time. Each column in the
course profile represents one minute. As with any course, you can change the
pedal resistance anytime during a workout by pressing the Resistance ▼▲ keys.
