If the bike is ridden with play in the steering head bearing, the bearing and the bearing seats in the frame can become dam-
aged over time.

Check the steering head bearing play. (

Raise the motorcycle with the lift stand. (
–
Move the handlebar to the straight-ahead position. Move the fork legs to and fro in
the direction of travel.
No play should be noticeable in the steering head bearing.

If there is noticeable play present:
–
Adjust play of the steering head bearing
–
Move the handlebar to and fro over the entire steering range.
The handlebar must be able to move easily over the entire steering range. No
resting locations should be noticeable.

Adjust play of the steering head bearing
–
Check the steering head bearing and replace if required.

Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. (

Raise the motorcycle with the lift stand. (

Loosen screw

Loosen and retighten screw

Using a plastic hammer, tap lightly on the upper triple clamp to avoid strains.

Fully tighten screw
