Alternatively: Filling with cool-
ant through filler neck
1.
Open vent point on charge-air cooler (ar-
row).
2.
Top up engine coolant via filler neck on
coolant expansion tank until coolant level
remains constant in sight glass at max.
mark.
3.
When coolant emerges from the vent point,
close vent point.
4.
Check proper condition of breather valve
on coolant expansion tank, clean sealing
faces if required.
5.
Mount breather valve and turn until the
first stop.
6.
Start engine (→ Page 51).
7.
After 10 seconds of running the engine
without load, shut down the engine
(→ Page 52).
8.
Turn breather valve of coolant expansion
tank counterclockwise until the first stop
and allow pressure to escape.
9.
Continue to turn breather valve counter-
clockwise and remove.
10.
Check coolant level (→ Page 132) and top
up engine coolant as required:
a) Top up engine coolant via coolant ex-
pansion tank until coolant level re-
mains constant in sight glass at max.

b) Set breather valve onto coolant expan-
sion tank and close it.
c) Repeat the steps from 'Start engine'
(→ Step 6) until coolant no longer
needs to be topped up.
Final steps
1.
Check proper condition of breather valve on coolant expansion tank, clean sealing faces if required.
2.
Fit breather valve and close it.
3.
Start the engine and run it without load for some minutes.
4.
Check coolant level (→ Page 132) and top up engine coolant as required.
