Battery replacement

Smart key
The smart key uses a 3 volt lithium bat-
tery which will normally last for several
years. When replacement is necessary,
use the following procedure.
1. Insert a slim tool into the slot and gently
pry open the smart key center cover.
2. Replace the battery with a new one.
When replacing the battery, make sure
the battery positive "+" symbol faces
up as indicated in the illustration.
3. Install the battery in the reverse order
of removal.
For smart key replacement, we recom-
mend that you contact an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.

Remote key
The remote key uses a 3 volt lithium bat-
tery which will normally last for several
years. When replacement is necessary,
use the following procedure.
1. Turn the screw (1) counterclockwise
using a philips head screwdriver until
the screw gets loose.
2. Insert a slim tool into the slot and gen-
tly pry open the remote key cover.

3. Open the inner remote key cover (2)
by removing the hook from the slots
(3).
4. Replace the battery (4) with a new bat-
tery (CR1220).
5. Install the battery in the reverse order
of removal.
