Input signal
The input video signal is selected with the
INPUT SELECT switch on the front panel.
To input analog video signals
Use the LINE IN terminal or Y/C IN terminal.
• LINE IN terminal:
Inputs composite video signals.
Connect a BNC cable.
• Y/C IN terminal:
Inputs Y/C separate video signals. Connect
an S video cable (4PIN).
When a wide screen ID signal is input, the
ID signal is recorded.

To connect digital signals
Connect HDV signals or DV signals to the
IEEE1394 terminal.
Connect an IEEE1394 (6PIN) cable.
HDV signals using 720p format can be input.
HDV 720p format:
720/30p, 720/24p, 480/60p
720/25p, 576/50p
• The IEEE1394 switch located on the front
panel needs to be set, according to whether
the video format is HDV or DV.
• Digital audio is also input from the
IEEE1394 terminal.
• Power is not supplied via the IEEE1394 ter-
minal.
• Attach the supplied filter to the IEEE1394
cable. (XPage 29)
• For more information on the IEEE1394 termi-
nal, refer to page 18.
Caution regarding video signals
If search images or analog video signals with
a high level of jitter are input, video or sound
may be distorted temporarily. Input stable sig-
nals, such as signals passed through a TBC.
Output signal
LINE OUT terminal
Outputs composite video signals.
Connect to a monitor using a BNC cable.
In addition to the composite video signals, it
also displays the on-screen status display and
the menu settings screen.
Y/C OUT terminal
Outputs Y/C separate video signals.
Connect to a monitor using an S video cable
(4PIN).
In addition to the Y/C separate video signals, it
also displays the on-screen status display and
the menu settings screen.
When a wide screen ID signal exists in the
video signal, the ID signal is output.
COMPONENT OUT terminal
Outputs analog component video signals.
Connect to an HD-compatible monitor using
BNC cables (three cables).
View analog HD or SD video on the monitor.
This terminal does not output audio.
In addition to the video signals, it also displays
the on-screen status display and the menu
settings screen.
HDMI OUT terminal
Outputs HDMI signals.
Outputs digital video and digital audio signals.
Connect to a monitor with an HDMI terminal
using an HDMI cable.
Outputs digital HD video, SD video, and digital
audio to the monitor.
When the monitor connection is a DVI termi-
nal, use an HDMI-DVI cable.
Digital HD/SD video is output to a DVI terminal
monitor. Does not output audio.
In addition to the video signals, it also displays
the on-screen status display and the menu
settings screen.
IEEE1394 terminal
This is also an input terminal. Connect an
IEEE1394 (6PIN) cable.
Outputs HDV signals or DV signals.
Digital audio signals are output with the video.
• Attach the supplied filter to the IEEE1394
cable. (XPage 29)
• For more information on the IEEE1394 termi-
nal, refer to page 18.
Memo
For more information on input/output terminal
video formats, refer to pages 32 to 34.
