brake
shoes. Reconditioning
of
the
old
shoes is not practicable.
Adjusting the brakes
The brake levers must have a play of about 5 mm. If
adjusting is necessary, do it by setting the counter-nuts of
the tensioning screws.
3.3.14 Checking and greasing the hub bearings
Take the hubs d o w n (according to the instructions given
in the repair manual), check and clean the bearings. Be-
fore
re-assembling,
grease
by
means
of
anti-frictior
bearing grease (see lubricants chart).
3.3.15 Checking and greasing the steering bearings
Take down the steering bearings (according to the in-
structions given in the repair manual), clean and check.
Before re-assembling, grease with new grease (see lubri-
cants charts).
3.3.16 Tightening screws and nuts
Check solid fit of all screws and nuts.
Pay special regard to the engine fastening screws, wheel
nuts and suspension unit fastening.
