3.3.3 Cleaning the exhaust muffler
It is advisable to clean the exhaust muffler after having
cleaned the exhaust port.
Dismantle a n d disassemble exhaust muffler:
Clean exhaust pipe by means of special brush provided
f o r this purpose. O i l carbon deposits must be removed.
In the case of the rectangular exhaust muffler fitted under
the engine, strip and clean only exhaust pipes. In the
case of
the
long
laterally
mounted
exhaust
mufflers,
disassemble the muffler after screwing off the central
muffler fastening.
Use a scraper f o r removing the oil carbon deposits from
the muffler inside.
O i l deposits on fastening device and in the pipes of the
after-silencer
must carefully
be removed. If necessary,
renew gaskets.
W e warn against modifying the silencer inside, especially
against removing the baffle elements. This w o u l d only
reduce engine output and raise fuel consumption. It is by
no means true that by doing so one achieves a higher
engine performance. Moreover changes are legally for-
bidden, as the model has been licensed only with the
original mufflers on it. In case of alterations, both the
owner of the vehicle as the one who actually carried
through the alteration are liable to prosecution.
3.3.4 Cleaning the air filter
Change filter in models with dry filter.

on the data sheet attached to this booklet.
