NOTE The temperature range for charging the battery is 0 °C to +40 °C.
For this purpose, the charging procedure of the MC75A-NI is activated and deactivated at short
time intervals to keep the battery temperature within the permissible range. An LED on the
MC75A-NI indicates when the charging procedure was disabled because of excess temperature.
Use only accessories approved by Motorola to charge the batteries.
Do not remove the battery during the first 15 hours of operation. There is a risk of losing data if the
battery is removed.
The cradles may be used for charging and for data communication only outside the hazardous
area.
Charging the Battery
Before first use of the MC75A-NI, the battery must be charged either with the charging cable or a cradle:
Single Slot USB/Serial cable
Four Slot Charge Only cradle
Four Slot Ethernet cradle.
Connect the charging accessory to the appropriate power source.

Insert the MC75A-NI into a cradle or attach to a cable. The MC75A-NI begins charging. The Charging/Battery

Status LED blinks amber while charging, then turns solid amber when fully charged.

Inserting the Battery

Before using the MC75A-NI, install a lithium-ion battery. Depending upon the configuration, the MC75A-NI may
ship with a 3600 mAh or 4800 mAh battery. The 3600 mAh battery is shown. The extended capacity batteries
require a larger battery cover. When using the 4800 mAh battery (light grey color), ensure that the 4800 mAh
battery door is used.
To insert the battery:
Insert the battery, top first, into the battery compartment in the back of the MC75A-NI.

NOTE Position the battery correctly, with the battery charging contacts on top of the charging contacts in
the battery compartment.
Press the battery down into the battery compartment until the battery release latch snaps into place.
