ARX-500 Hardware Installation Guide
The ARX-500 provides the following management ports:
• Console. Serial console port (labeled 10101) for accessing and managing
the switch through a local console terminal and command-line interface
(CLI).
• Management. Out-of-band (OOB) 10/100/1000 Ethernet port (labeled 2)
for connecting an OOB management station.
• Management. Inband 100/1000 Ethernet port for accessing the CLI from
a client or server network.

During the initial-boot process described in this chapter, you can access only
the serial console port. You configure the out-of-band management port as
part of the initial-boot process.
Note
The out-of-band management port is labeled 2 on the device.
After completing the initial-boot process, you can access the out-of-band
management port. For more information, see Connecting the Out-of-Band
Management Port, on page 3-18.
Set the following console-terminal parameters to match those on the
serial-console port:
• 9600 baud rate (default, fixed)
• XON-XOFF flow control
• 8 data bits
• 1 stop bit, no parity
Connect the console terminal to the serial-console port on the back panel.
