PINPOINT TEST J: THE WASHER PUMP IS INOPERATIVE — REAR
NOTE: Complete the entire Pinpoint Test related to the symptom before replacing the GEM.
CONDITIONS
J1 VERIFY THE OPERATION OF THE FRONT WASHER PUMP
J2 RETRIEVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
Scan Tool
Retrieve and Document Continuous DTCs
Clear Continuous DTCs
On-Demand Self-Test
Rear Wiper Self-Test
J3 CHECK THE REAR WIPER/WASHER SWITCH — MONITOR THE PID R_WP_MD
J4 CHECK THE REAR WASHER PUMP RELAY COIL CIRCUIT — MONITOR THE PID RWASHSW

DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS
Verify the operation of the front windshield washer pump.
Does the front windshield washer operate properly?
Yes
GO to J2.
No
GO to
Pinpoint Test
E.
Are any DTCs retrieved?
Yes
If DTC B1240, GO to
J4
.
If DTC B1241, GO to
J4
.
If DTC B1342, REPLACE the GEM; REFER to
system for normal operation.
No
GO to J3.
Monitor the PID R_WP_MD while activating the rear wash switch.
Does the PID R_WP_MD indicate WASH when the switch is activated?
Yes
GO to J4.
No
REPLACE the multifunction switch; REFER to
system for normal operation.
Monitor the PID RWASHSW while toggling the active command WASHRLY to ON and OFF.
