A23 CHECK THE WIPER MECHANISM
PINPOINT TEST B: THE WIPERS STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY — FRONT
CONDITIONS
B1 CHECK THE IGNITION STATES — MONITOR THE PIDS IGN_A, IGN_S, IGN_R, AND IGN_O/L.

Do the wipers operate?
Yes
REPLACE the wiper HI/LO relay. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to A22.
Measure the resistance between windshield wiper motor C165-3, Circuit 57 (BK) and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to A23.
No
REPAIR Circuit 57 (BK). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
Remove the linkage from the windshield wiper motor.
Are the wipers free?
Yes
CHECK the windshield wiper motor by performing the Windshield Wiper Motor — Current
Draw Test; REFER to Component Tests. REPLACE the windshield wiper motor if it does not
pass the test; REFER to
Motor—Windshield
normal operation.
No
REPAIR the windshield wiper mechanism. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal
operation.
DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS
Monitor the PIDS IGN_A, IGN_S, IGN_R, AND IGN_O/L while turning the ignition switch
through the START, RUN, OFF and ACC positions.
