2.1 How to connect

1. Apply source serial digital video to VIDEO IN connector. Source must be standard
SMPTE 259M video. The DV2000 terminates the source video with 75 ohms.
2. Take the program video with encoded data/text & graphics from VIDEO OUT #1 or
VIDEO OUT #2. VIDEO OUT #1 and #2 are serial digital outputs.
3. Connect VIDEO OUT #1 or #2 to Monitor Video In, a serial digital input.
4. Connect an analog composite video monitor to MONITOR VIDEO OUT or an S-video
monitor to Y/C OUT (an S-video monitor is preferred). This output is used to monitor
closed captions and to display on-screen menus when the DV2000 is in setup mode. This
output is not intended to be used as a source of analog program video. If you need analog
program video, it is recommended that you use a high quality serial digital-to-analog
video converter at one of the DV2000 program video outputs.
5. Connect longitudinal time code to the LTC In connector via an XLR-to-Mini-DIN time
code adapter cable (ULTECH part number OPT14). The LTC input can use either bal-
anced or single-ended time code with a nominal level of +4 dBu.
6. Apply AC line power to the unit via the detachable three wire cord.
Grounding (earthing)
The DV2000 must be connected to a protective earth conductor via the three wire AC line
(mains) cord. The AC power plug shall be inserted only into a receptacle outlet that has a
protective earth contact. The ground wire must not be defeated by use of a two wire exten-
sion cord.

WARNING:
Any interruption of the power line ground circuit inside or
outside the DV2000, or removal of the AC receptacle ground
wire, will create a potential shock hazard.
