Portrait
Use this mode for taking portraits in which the main subject
stands out clearly. Portrait subjects exhibit smooth, natural-
looking skin tones.
• The camera detects and focuses on a face looking toward the
camera (see "Shooting with Face Priority"
([I] 112)
for more
information).
• If the camera detects a

face of the subject, the smile
indicator increases or decreases.
• If the camera recognizes multiple faces, the camera locks the
focus

the face nearest to the center of the frame.
• If no face is recognized, the camera will focus on the subject
in the center of the frame.
• Digital zoom is not available.

Use this mode for vivid landscapes and cityscapes.
• Camera focuses at infinity. When the shutter-release button is
pressed halfway, the focus area or focus indicator

always lights greer); however, focus may not be set for near
subjects, while the camera focuses at infinity.
• AF-assist illuminator does not light regardless of the AF assist
([I] 133)
