TRANSPORT

WARNING
Before transporting the vehicle, it is
necessary to completely empty the fuel
tank and the carburetor (on carburetor
versions), see below (DRAINING THE
FUEL TANK) making sure that both are
completely dry.
During transport, the vehicle must be
kept in vertical position and be firmly
anchored, in order to avoid any leakage
of fuel, oil or coolant.
WARNING
If stranded, do not have the vehicle
towed - contact a roadside service firm
instead.

DRAINING THE FUEL TANK

(carburetor version only)
Carefully read page 40 (FUEL).
WARNING
Risk of fire.
Allow for the engine and exhaust
muffler to cool down completely before
proceeding.
Fuel vapors are noxious to human
health. Before proceeding, make sure
that the room in which you are working
is properly ventilated.
Do not inhale fuel vapors.
Do not smoke or use naked flames.
DO NOT RELEASE FUEL INTO THE
ENVIRONMENT.
Place the vehicle on the center stand,
see page 55 (PLACING THE VEHICLE
ON THE STAND)
Stop the engine and wait until it has
cooled down.
Remove the rear mudguard.
Prepare a container large enough to
hold the fuel in the tank and place it on
the floor on the left side of the vehicle.
Remove the fuel filler plug.
Drain fuel using a manual pump or
similar system.
WARNING
After draining the tank, put back the
filler plug in the proper position.
Refit the fuel filler plug.

To drain the carburetor completely,
proceed as follows:
Put the free end of the hose (1) into a
receptacle.
Loosen drain screw (2) under the float
chamber to drain the carburetor.
When all the fuel has flowed out of the
carburetor:
Tighten the drain screw (2) completely.
WARNING
Tighten the drain screw (2) with care, to
avoid fuel leakages from the carburetor
during refuelling.
