Any location on Earth may be described by
two positioning coordinates. These two
coordinates, measured by degrees, minutes,
and seconds, are:
• latitude
• longitude
Latitudes are horizontal circles drawn around
the Earth. The zero degree latitude (the
equator) divides the globe into the Northern
and Southern hemispheres.
