Viewing High Definition Television (HDTV) Channels

There are several channels which now transmit in HDTV (High-Definition Television). If you have
a high-definition TV and an HD-capable settop, you will see HD video on your HDTV channels.
However, depending on your settop equipment, you may see one of the following displays when you
select an HDTV channel.
Depending on your equipment, you may continue to see one of the above displays or it may turn to
a blank display. For additional information about HDTV connections and channels, contact your
local cable provider.

Changing or Muting the Volume

This section describes how you change or mute the volume.
Note: Before you can use your remote to adjust the volume, the remote control must be programmed to control the
volume. You can select to have the remote control either the TV's volume or the settop's volume. When you
choose to program volume to be controlled by the TV, the only way you can change the settop's output
volume level is through the Volume Level option under the Audio preference. For information about the
Volume Level option, refer to Setting the Volume Level on page 83. For additional information on your
remote control, refer to the remote control documentation.
