If you want to record outgoing messages from an external source fit the trans-
fer cable with the stereo jack plug to the "IN" socket and the other stereo jack
plug to the audio output on the external device (audio system, cassette re-
corder etc.).

If you want to transfer the telephone book from one different Retell 540 office
to another use the transfer cable with two jack plugs. Fit the plugs to the
"OUT" socket on one device and the "IN" socket on the other.
