2. COOLING OPERATION

(1) Thermostat function
During cooling operation, desired temperature can be set in the range from 66˚F to 86°F. When room temperature falls to
the set temperature, the thermostat turns to OFF. After that, when the room temperature rises 2 deg. higher than the set tem-
perature, the thermostat turns ON.
(2) Coil frost prevention
After 16-minutes compressor continuous operation, if the indoor coil thermistor (RT2 or TH2) reads 34°F or below, the com-
pressor stops to prevent coil frosting. When the indoor coil temperature rises to 50°F, the coil frost prevention stops and the
compressor restarts after 3-minute time delay function.
1 After stop, the compressor does not restart for 3 minutes to prevent short cycle.
(3) Coil frost protection
1 After compressor continuous operation of at least 3 minutes, if the indoor coil temperature has been 5°F or below for 3
minutes, the coil frost protection mode starts.
2 The compressor stops, and restarts 6 minutes later. (6-minute time delay)
3 The first 10 minutes after the compressor restart is an allowance period.
If the same conditions as 1 is satisfied in the allowance period, both indoor and outdoor units stop and check code "P6"
appears on the liquid crystal display (LCD) of the remote controller.
If the same conditions as 1 is satisfied after the allowance period, 6-minute time delay functions and the allowance peri-
od starts again.
4 If the cooling mode stops or changes to other mode during 6-minute time delay or the allowance period, the coil frost pro-
tection mode is canceled.
(4) Outdoor unit abnormality detection
After 3-minute compressor continuous operation, if room temperature minus indoor coil temperature is less than 9 degrees
for 1 minute, the fan speed turns to LOW. Five minutes later, if the difference is still less than 9 degrees, the outdoor unit is
regarded as abnormal. Then the compressor stops and the check code "P8" appears on LCD of the remote controller.
