FIRST-TIME OPERATION

Prepare your TV
• Turn off your TV sound: To allow your LIFESTYLE® system to provide the premium sound
it is designed to deliver, the internal speakers in your TV should be turned off.
OPTION A - Turn the volume down all the way. This is the easiest method.
OPTION B - Change the speaker on/off setting in the onscreen TV setup menu. If you need
help, refer to the owner's guide that came with your TV.
• Select the right video input on your TV: Select the video input that is connected to the
VS-2 output. This is usually done in the features menu of your TV. Refer to your TV owner's
guide for help.

Open the ADAPTiQC!) audio calibration system carton
Your system includes the Bose® ADAPTiQ® audio calibration system. It includes two compact
discs and a special ADAPTiQ calibration headset (Figure 16).
• Play both discs when all of the speakers are where you want them, your furnishings are
arranged as intended, and all of the system connections are completed.
• Allow approximately 30 minutes to complete the process.
• Begin the process when you are unlikely to be disturbed and when the acoustic
measurement tones are unlikely to disturb anyone else.

Disc 1 - Verifies that your speakers are connected correctly
and offers information you may find useful.
Disc 2 - Includes the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system and
provides instructions for using it. The ADAPTiQ calibration tailors
the sound of your LIFESTYLE® system very specifically to the
acoustics in your room.
ADAPTiQ calibration headset - Designed to be worn above
your ears, this special headset takes acoustic measurements for
you during the calibration process. Put on the headset only when
prompted by Disc 2.
You can play Disc 2 and calibrate your system again if you need to
move any of the speakers or move the system to another room.
