How to: Media server

About sharing files using the media server
The media server allows you to wirelessly share the media files from your BlackBerry smartphone with supported devices
that are UPnP compatible or DLNA Certified, such as some computers, TVs, or other home entertainment equipment.
Supported devices connect to your smartphone and get access to your shared media files so you can play the files on the
connected devices.
To share media files, your smartphone must have file sharing turned on and must be connected to the same Wi-Fi
network as the device that you want to share the media files with.
Share media files using the media server
Before you begin: To share media files media server has to be turned on and your BlackBerry smartphone must be
connected to the same Wi-Fi as the device you want to share media files with.
When you turn on file sharing, your smartphone appears on the Wi-Fi network, but you have to allow access to your
shared media files to devices on your network before your shared files are detected.
1. On the home screen, click the Media icon.

Press the
key > Media Server.
3. Select the File Sharing checkbox.
4. When the file sharing indicator appears in the upper-right corner of the home screen, use the connected device you
want to share media files with to access your smartphone.
5. On your smartphone allow access to your shared media files when prompted.
6. To avoid the prompt and automatically accept all requests to share your media files, click Access Control and select
the Auto Accept All Connections checkbox.

Note: If you turn off file sharing and then turn it on again, devices that are identified by IP addresses that were previously
connected prompt you for access again.
Manage the devices connected to the media server
You can change your decisions about which devices connect, and how they connect, while using Media Server.
