How can I safely clean my old GE self cleaning oven now that aluminum foil is stuck to bottom of oven.

Do not use the self-clean mode to remove aluminum foil stuck to the bottom of the oven, as it may damage the interior surface. Instead, manually remove the foil:

1. Make sure the oven is off and completely cool.
2. Gently try to lift or peel off the foil using a plastic scraper or wooden utensil.
3. Do not use sharp tools, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the oven surface.
4. If the foil is difficult to remove, apply a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water to soften residue, then wipe gently with a soft cloth.

If foil is melted or firmly stuck, it may require professional service to avoid damage.
